1912 Dining Bar

Latest addition to the new Chinatown face lift. 1912 has a great looking shopfront with an almost fantastical leafy entrance and down the stairs to a dark jazz lounge. They serve Japanese food and alcohol there, but nothing else about the lounge is Japanese. They don't have Japanese performers there either from what I can tell.

There's live music there every Friday night I believe. When I visited, they had a duo who were singing classic pop songs and entertaining the crowd.

The venue isn't big, there are some larger private rooms but only a few tables for enjoying the music and dining. The food menu isn't extensive, but they cover most of the traditional dish selections.

Apart from the cold/entree items, all the warm mains were quite disappointing. The steak was really stringy, tasted like a really part of the cow actually. The pork wasn't any better. Overall a disappointing meal with an expensive bill tab. I would recommend coming here if you want a drink - my favourite is the yuzu sake. But otherwise, definitely skip a meal here if you can avoid it
