The meal costed $525 per person (not including alcohol) with all the original wait staff and chefs from Fat Duck Bray, flown to Melbourne for 6 months. Not a bad gig!
Words and pictures will not suffice in truly capturing the wonder 5 hour experience we had, but I am still amazed every time I look at these photos of the culinary and gastronomical wonderment that Heston Blumenthal delivers.
I heart Fat Duck =)
Aerated beetroot. So little but packed with flavour! |
First experience of nitrogen balls! |
I got Gin & Tonic. Absolutely delicious!! |
Red Cabbage Gazpacho with Pommery Grain Mustard Ice Cream |
Savoury Lollies - Waldorf Rocket, Salmon Twister and Feast (pate). Served on a wooden board of course! |
Close up of the treats before I dig in... |
The pate was my favourite of course - check out the inside! |
Naturally I needed a bathroom break. They even have Fat Duck branded soap and hand lotion! |
Fat Duck films to put on our tongues to introduce the next experience |
Jelly of Quail, Marron Cream - Caviar sobet, oak moss and truffle toast |
Truffle Toast upclose |
Theatrics - supposed to smell like moss to accentuate our experience with the dish |
Snail Porridge - so inventive! |
Roast Marron - most delicious crustacean I've had! |
Now we go down the real rabbit hole... |
It's Tea but not as you know it! |
We each get to pick our own gold pocket watch |
Waiters putting the gold watch into our tea pots |
Watch it melt! |
Time to swirl it around so it makes a good soup base |
Gorgeous golden soup! |
Mad Hatter's Tea Party |
Don't know the fillings but of course, delicious! |
When you see seashells with ipod in there - you know you've reached sounds of the sea extravaganza |
So delicious! I had to take a shot of my finished plate |
Salmon poached in liquorice gel |
Gotta be my favourite - the salmon just melts like butter in your mouth. Most delicious salmon I've ever had in my life! |
Lamb with Cucumber |
Cucumber jelly sides |
The full meal - you scoop some jelly from the small cup and you apply it on the lamb to give it that lamb & mint experience |
Botrytis Cinerea - beautifully crafted dessert |
The wait staff approaches us with a piece of the puzzle each so we can put our piece onto the board in commemoration of Fat Duck's 6 months in melbourne |
English Breakfast - Heston style of course... |
After having dessert, I'm back to breakfast! |
Cooking up nitrogen scrambled eggs |
Egg Gelato on candied bacon strip and brioche - best way to start the day right? |
Our breakfast comes accompanied by marmalade |
Of course, the seal is candy and can be eaten |
Whiskey wine gums |
cutest little things |
So sad to be down to the last one... |
Breaking it all up with some quality JING tea |
Last one - Kid in a sweet shop |
The 4 items in the bag! |
nom nom |
And that's the last of it folks! |
Given the chance, I would go back to Fat Duck again
