Contrabando Latin Restaurant

Located underground and underneath a popular coffee place called Barafina - Contrabando serves ok quality Tapas.

The first thing you notice about the place are the 'european' hot waitresses - apparently Barafina employs the same hotness and hence why so popular for coffee in the mornings with the lawyers and bankers around Wynyard.

The service is good - though at times the English is abit of a struggle with some of the waitresses. Pricing is decent too, though I'm not really blown away with the food.

It was a last minute walk in - so I didn't have a proper camera with me and was using my iphone 5 so apologies the quality isn't as per usual!

The menu - kinda cute!

Corn cobs were good. But then again, how can you screw up corn cobs?!

Crispy Prawns with squid ink aioli. Yummy

Hot dogs - I didn't really like the bread rolls. So not my favourite dish

Empanadas

The lamb skewers. Probably the best dish of the meal. Really good sauce that accompanied it as well

Probably the most disappointing. They had the name 'Wagyu potatoes' but yeah... basically tasted like normal potatoes!

Ensalada - This was a nice dish to go with the lamb that was served.

The semi freddo dessert. I guess it was just the way the dessert is made - with the alcohol on the side. But really didn't like it, maybe it's the authentic way?

If you're in the city, need a Tapas place to go to without booking - I think Contrabando will hit the mark and send you home full. But don't come here if you're seeking to impress anyone!
