Toriciya Japanese Restaurant

Been meaning to make this post for awhile to showcase the great food available at this hidden local gem. My friends live near Cammeray and discovered this place. I would say the highlight is definitely the more homely dishes here like the Cabbage with special sauce, Udon and meat ball skewers which you won't find at a hatted restaurant but is still just as delectable as any 5 star meal.

The restaurant only has one large communal table and it kind of looks like a door - thought the lock was quite interesting

Kingfish Carpaccio with Jalapeno. Absolutely delicious!

My god. Words cannot describe how obsessed I am with this dish. Mainly the special sauce that is the accompanying the baked cabbage. It's absolutely divine and you will want more once you've finished the first dish. I know we ordered seconds hehe

Beef Tataki. Another great dish and very flavoursome.

Sashimi Platter. Can't go wrong with that!

Fried Squid 

Meatball skewers and quail eggs. Huge fan of the meat balls - succulent and juicy and exploding with flavour!

It's such a simple dish but done so well! Miso glazed eggplant - really good appetiser in between all the meat we're having hehe

Chicken karage

Sea urchin - I've never been a fan of sea urchins and eating it by itself. But with the seaweed wrap is actually really yummy!

Tuna salad. Loving the mix of fried onions and corn. They also mix it with a nut trail which adds to the crunchiness of the salad

Green Tea Creme Brulee

Green Tea Ice Cream with Mochi (inside the mochi are strawberries and red bean) or with Glutinous Balls and Red Bean soup

Definitely recommend a visit. It is a great local joint and even if you have special guests over I think they will appreciate a great meal without the 5 star price!
