The masterclass ($130 per person) was taken by the chef himself, complete with a trip to the Fish Markets as well as a tour of the restaurant kitchen. A very fun day, evidence below:
Protective Gloves to prevent us from cutting ourselves hehe |
Workstation set up at the restaurant |
Firstly, they showed us how to make sushi rice. Must be placed in wooden bowl! |
Stirring the rice with vinegar to get it ready |
Okay back to the restaurant - my work station, ready to make some sushi! |
Spices, sesame seeds etc all prepared for us |
Sashimi and garnish for our sushi rolls. Oh nom nom... |
Kingfish for our sashimi carpaccio |
Bonito Flakes! |
Kingfish is actually really hard to slice. Mine kept breaking - but that's my hard work right there ready for garnishing! |
Before we eat our first dish - the chef shows us how to make a real sushi roll |
90-100g of sushi rice, I'm ready to make the filling |
Mmmm Tuna... Ready to roll this baby up! |
Not exactly the best looking roll - but it's my first attempt =) |
Slicing it up for plating! |
Ta da... I'm proud nevertheless. At least my fillings all stayed in place hehe |
Plated up the sushi rolls - the other one was salmon filling. |
Kingfish Carpaccio with dressing and garnish - looks so much more appetising now right? |
Fried Squid prepared by Sokyo to go with our meal |
My fave - Miso Cod. It's to die for - must try dish at Sokyo! |
Sushi Rolls ready to be eaten. It was such a filling meal! I couldn't even finish everything |
Lastly a special dessert the chef prepared for us |
Contains a little liqueur ice cream and chocolate inside. Divine finish to a great meal! |
